About me

My name is Berit Honningsvåg Presthus.
I am 38 years old (in 2006), and I live in Ytre Arna just outside Bergen, Norway.
I am married to Tom Erik. We have shared 20 lovely years together.
Tom is the patience himself.

I have been an animal lover all my life, and throughout the years I have filled our house with a lot of different animals.
I have bred rats and have taken care of different rodents.
We have had birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, mice, hamsters, fish and cats.
Last but not least, dogs, witch has become my great passion.

Together with Tom I have two lovely daughters.
Oda Emilie 9 years old, and Vilde Maria 7 years old.

Dogs has always been an importent part of my life. My father went hunting on mountain grouse, and because of that we hade hunting dogs.
I grew up with English Setters who was, besides used in hunting, family dogs.
Especially one of the Setters has marked me.
Her name was Stella, and she was my best friend.

I started out with mixing dogs, then the Papillon.
It was with the Papillons I got interested in showing and was hooked.
I did have some Papillon litters too.

When Tom and I was fortunate enought to become parents, it became a period with less time for the dogs, and showing.
Our Vilde was born with a very rared kromosome deffect, diagnosed 18Q-syndrom.
She is mentally retarded and needs alot of care and attention.
Vilde needed all my time, and because of that, I placed my dogs in co-owned homes.
In 2002 I met a Griffon for the first time.
It was love at first sight.
I just had to have one.
At home things had started to fall in place, and it was time to think about dogs again.

I was fortunate to have the posibility to take over Judie when she was 10 months old.
She was, and still is, a wonderful little creatuere.
She is stabil and safe in her temperament.
Judie has become Vildes best friend.

I started showing again. Judie did very well in the ring, and she became Norwegian Champion in the summer of 2005.

Had my first litter of Griffons i 2004. As most breeders, I kept a little female from the breeding. Tiny is a Griffon Belge. She is a lot like her father, who also is a Belge.
I then had to learn to strip a Griffon!
It has been a prosess, but I feel that I am starting to get the hang of it.
It shows clearly on her show results.

My daughter Oda also enjoys dog shows.
She practise with Tiny, and together they have  entered the "junior handling" ring.

In autumn 2005 I was so fortunate to purchase Trine from Grete Buraas.
Thank you so much Grete for this lovely girl!
Trine is a boorish little girl, a playful little Petit. She is a great subsidy to my breeding.
It is always nice with new bloodlines.
Trine also does very well in the show ring.
She is still young, and I think it will be exciting to follow her progress.

Griffons is a lovely sturdy mini breed. It is a breed who is social and easy and well adopted. A very good family dog.
I have thruely found my perfect breed in the Griffons.
